This Week’s Focus: It Gets Hard
Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening—depending on what time you’re reading this!
It’s been a while. Did you guys miss me?
First, I want to apologize for my absence. Sometimes life really catches up to you, and that just happens to be the case for me lately. I needed to take a step back, even if just for a moment, to get back right with myself.
I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t allow my mental health to reach a point where it feels uncontrollable again. And keeping that promise means taking the necessary steps to take care of myself, even when those steps aren’t easy. For me, that includes making the decision to start therapy.
Life gets hard.
And I feel like that’s something they don’t really prepare us for in school. After you graduate, you’re kind of just thrown into the world and expected to figure everything out.
But I want you all to remember something: You are not alone.
Everyone struggles. Everyone has battles they’re fighting, and you never truly know what someone else is going through. So please, don’t compare your journey to someone else’s. Everyone’s walk looks different, and that’s okay.
And while we’re on that topic, be kind.
It’s everyone’s first time living. Extend grace. Be the light that someone else might need.
And please, seek community.
I know it can be hard and discouraging, especially when you’re trying to find your place in an unfamiliar environment. And this is coming from a girl who moved over 1,000 miles away from home, so trust me when I say I know the struggle!
But one thing I’m learning is that you don’t have to figure everything out alone. Sometimes all it takes is opening up to someone, allowing yourself to be vulnerable, and realizing that there are people who genuinely care.
You have to keep going, even on the days when keeping a positive mindset feels impossible. Every day you wake up and choose to try again is another step in the right direction.
I know sometimes it feels like you’re not making any progress, but you are. Even if that progress looks different from what you imagined.
And I’m so proud of you.
Over the weekend, the Texas Southern University community received heartbreaking news about the loss of a student. My heart goes out to everyone affected, especially their loved ones.
Hearing the news hurt my heart deeply, and it reminded me of why I started this brand in the first place.
Life is precious, and losing someone so young is heartbreaking. It also reminded me of my own journey and the moments when I wasn’t sure I would still be here.
Because the truth is, I was almost one of the people who didn’t get another chance.
And when I was given that chance, I made a vow to myself and to God that I would do everything in my power to take care of my mental health and help others feel loved, cared for, heard, and valued.
That’s why We’re Still Here MHA exists.
That’s why I started Mindful Mondays.
Not because I have everything figured out. Not because every day is sunshine and rainbows. But because I know what it feels like to struggle, and I never want someone to believe they have to face those struggles alone.
This blog is a reminder that you are still here.
You are loved. You are cared for. You are valued. And most importantly, you belong here.
I know life gets hard. I know there will be moments when everything feels overwhelming, when you’re exhausted, and when you don’t know what comes next.
But please, don’t give up on yourself.
Reach out. Talk to someone. Allow yourself to be supported. Take a break when you need one. And remember that asking for help doesn’t make you weak.
It makes you human.
And if there’s one thing I hope you take away from this week’s blog, it’s that you don’t have to have everything figured out to keep moving forward.
It gets better.
Maybe not overnight. Maybe not tomorrow. But things can change, and there is still so much life left for you to experience.
Take it from someone who’s been through some of those dark moments and is still learning, still growing, and still choosing to be here.
Until next Monday, take care of yourself, check on your people, and remember:
We’re Still Here. And that means something. 💚
With love,Â

This Week’s Affirmation 🤍
“I am not weak for struggling, and I am not a burden for needing help. Even on the days when life feels heavier than I can carry, I am still worthy of love, grace, and a future filled with joy. I don't have to be strong every second of every day. I am allowed to fall apart, to reach out, to rest, and to begin again. My hardest moments are not the end of my story. There is still purpose in my presence, hope in my tomorrow, and beauty in the life I have yet to live. I am still here, and my story is still being written.”
