đź’š Thoughtful Tuesday? - Let's Talk Discipline

This Week’s Focus: Let’s Talk Discipline

Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening—depending on what time you’re reading this. As we can see, today is not Monday, so welcome to Thoughtful Tuesday!

I apologize for the late post, but I’m also human. Your girl was stressed and needed a breather. Over the past week, I’ve taken on a lot of new responsibilities, and I’m still learning how to balance everything.

But I had to find the time to write this blog for y’all this week because I promised a weekly blog. I’m learning that it’s okay to give yourself grace. I didn’t beat myself up over not posting yesterday, but what’s not okay is using grace as a get-out-of-jail-free card.

I could’ve said, “Oh darn, I didn’t get to post on Monday. Oh well, there’s always next Monday.” But no. In between my classes today, I made the time to get this done.

I talk a lot about rest and self-care, but we need to make sure we aren’t confusing rest with avoidance. I know this is a hard pill to swallow, but a lot of us are procrastinators. We can be avoidant, and sometimes we do try to run from our problems.

Part of self-care is being able to recognize these negative habits and actually work toward changing them.

You need to show up for yourself.

Hold yourself accountable just like you would anyone else. You run a strict program, but you keep telling yourself, “Oh, I’ll fold my clothes tomorrow.” Then tomorrow comes, and you say the same thing again.

The change starts from within.

I know this isn’t always easy, especially as we get older and gain more freedom. Nobody is standing over your shoulder telling you what to do anymore. But how can you expect to reach your goals without discipline?

Discipline isn’t about being perfect. It’s about doing what needs to be done, even when you don’t feel like doing it.

So let’s work on this together. Let’s hold ourselves accountable. Get that task done that you’ve been putting off. Send the email. Clean your room. Finish the assignment. Make the appointment. Whatever it is, stop waiting for yourself to feel motivated and just start.

Give yourself grace when you genuinely need it, but don’t let grace become an excuse.

Show up for yourself. You owe yourself that.

Until next Monday, remember:

You are loved.

You are cared for.

You belong here.

💚 This Week’s Check-In

What’s one responsibility you’ve been avoiding or putting off? Be honest with yourself about why you’ve been avoiding it—and then ask yourself: “What can I do today to finally get it done?”

This Week’s Affirmation

“I can give myself grace while still holding myself accountable. I am capable of doing hard things, even when I don’t feel like it.”
